How to use a “model” physique to your advantage

With all the fitness magazines, commercials, movies it’s hard not to compare yourself physically to another. Either you want the “shredded abs”, big chest, huge biceps or even a small waist. Many people, including myself seek inspiration through the physical image of others. There is a positive and negative side to “physique comparison.”

Let’s break it down:

Pros

  1. Motivation. Get up and began necessary steps in  order to achieve the physique you desire.
  2. Consistency. Because you are motivated and determined to achieve your goal you will train and eat regularly.
  3. Transformation. With consistency you will notice a change mentally, emotionally and physically.

Cons

  1. Discouragement. Feeling that the physique you want is unattainable.
  2. Inconsistency. You don’t see the results that you want as quickly as you want so you began to “slack” off your daily regime.
  3. Regression.  Instead of looking better you began to look worse than what you started.

Quick tip

Use the physique model as inspiration but also remember that everyone has a different body.  You will transform in your own way and at your own pace. Stay focused  and remember things take time,  no one has ever attained  a certain “look” overnight.  Don’t be afraid to use yourself as a model. Take before and after photos to see how far you come to achieve your new physique. Be sure to reward yourself , be proud of your success!
